Since very ancient times, the qualities of Cotentin horses have been sought after. In the middle of the 16th century, Mr. Gilles de Gouberville, a country gentleman from Cotentin and lieutenant of waters and forests, wrote about these horses “… wandering freely in the forests”; “… for the sobriety, the solidity and the heart with which they carried out their long and continuous races, they had no equal”.
Throughout the centuries, the selection and passion of the people of this country have brought out illustrious horses and riders of European and world equestrianism.
