A dream weekend!

From the high-level riders, to the dream weather conditions, not to mention a well-organized organization, the French Funboard Wave Championship 2024 was a success. This event proves that La Hague is one of the best spots in the world and that, more broadly, the Cotentin is a territory that can host, thanks to its body of water, renowned nautical competitions.
WEATHER CONDITIONS
Le Hague Nautical Center, the organizing team of the 2024 French Funboard Wave Championship, was waiting, or even dreaming of a strong gust of wind for this first weekend of the waiting period (November 23-24) and that's what happened. After a midweek with snow, the Channel was lucky to have a big depression with mild temperatures and a very strong wind (more than 40 knots with gusts of 100 km/h).
THE ORGANIZATION
With a budget of over €50, the PNH has succeeded in its challenge of organizing the French Funboard Wave Championship for the 000th time. Behind this event, we must mention and thank:
- The kindness of the 60 volunteers,
- The ten public and private partners: Leclerc Querqueville, Nausicaa, WindSurf journal, Envergure Automobiles Tourlaville, L'ami du pain de Querqueville, the Collignon sailing school, Le Cotentin Surf Club, the town hall of La Hague, the town hall of Siouville-Hague, the department of Manche, Attitude Manche, the Normandy region.
A GOLD TRAY
The beaches of Vauville and Siouville were able to welcome the 32 best French riders selected for this competition. The women's field had nothing to be ashamed of, with 7 highly motivated riders. Note the absence of the triple reigning French champion, Marine Hunter.
TWO DAYS OF COMPETITION

The first day was on the beach of Vauville, in the commune of La Hague. The conditions allowed the riders to express themselves in jumping and surfing. The 2 best jumps and the 2 best waves taken were noted. The next day, the 2nd day of competition moved to Siouville. The weather conditions were still as strong, with waves sometimes exceeding the size of a mast (4m), and the sun in addition. This time, the competitors were judged mainly on surfing (1 jump and 2 best waves).
THE RESULTS
There were no big surprises in the first rounds. At the end of the first day, the young Finistère rider Baptiste Cloarec was ahead of the reigning French champion, Kilian Du Couedic and Nicolas Akgazciyan from Leucate completed the podium in third place.
At the end of the 2nd day, Baptiste Cloarec confirmed his domination with his level of world top rider. In particular, he won in 2023 a stage of the world wave circuit, the PWA tour, in the Fiji Islands.
One of the locals involved in the competition, Yann Sorlut, moved from 4th place to 2nd place, bringing back to the PNH the 3rd medal of a French championship this year (after Marin's 3rd place in Kitesurfing and Jean-Loup's 1st place in Youth Slalom).
