Adopting eco-friendly actions doesn't stop when you're on vacation, quite the contrary!
The Cotentin Tourist Office is committed to a Sustainable Development approach and wants its visitors to be too!
But then, how do we go about being eco-responsible far from home?
01
We prepare our stay with sobriety!
02
We keep up good habits once we're there!
03
And what about our visits?
We prepare our stay with sobriety!
- We are thinking of calculating the carbon footprint of our trip using the Carbon Calculator de l 'ADEME .
- We look at soft modes of mobility to get to our destination (SNCF site, CAP Cotentin, Nomad bus, blablacar, Atoumod).
- We slip a tote bag into our suitcase when we go shopping.
- We favor responsible hygiene products (eco-labeled shampoo, solid soaps or shower gel).
- We take a reusable container for picnics.
- We remember to bring a water bottle, no more need for plastic bottles!
We keep up good habits once we're there!
- We turn off the light as soon as we leave a room.
- Forget about taking showers that are too long, put on some 3-4 minute music while you shower! Good mood guaranteed!
- We minimize waste, we consume according to our needs, especially in hotels or in all-inclusive formulas!
- We sort our waste, the Cotentin Urban Community makes it available on its site local sorting instructions.
And what about our visits?
- We encourage travel using soft mobility, particularly for short journeys. CAP Cotentin is full of solutions such as the bus and the bike. The departures of the hikes and associated bus lines are marked in our topo-guides.
- We consume locally whenever we can and with seasonal products. For example, it is possible to regularly go to the markets of the territory. You can also find local producers through the platform « I buy local » of the Agglomeration Community within the framework of the Territorial Food Plan.
- We respect the local fauna and flora. We follow the marked hiking trails and we don't make too much noise in protected areas so as not to disturb the wildlife that could be hiding there or that we observe! At the risk of changing their behavior, we stay at a distance, we don't touch them and especially we don't feed them!
- We respect the locals and culture. What could be better than getting to know and meet the locals and their know-how! To start, nothing could be simpler, the portraits of the Pincés are full of stories and knowledge to share!
- We take a small reusable bag to put our waste in and pick up any that we come across on our way!
