The MAGELLAN was built in 1983 by the Aalborg Vaerft shipyard for the Carnival Cruise Lines company. In 2005, it served as temporary housing in Pascagoula for victims of Hurricane Katrina. In 2009, it was transferred to the Ibero Cruceros company which renamed it 'Grand Holiday'. She sailed under this name until her purchase by the Cruise & Maritime Voyages company which renamed her MAGELLAN.
It has three indoor bars, two swimming pools and two jacuzzis, two restaurants, a babysitting service, a tuxedo rental service. There are numerous activities on board: comedy shows, casino, discotheque, piano bar, games room, bookstore, library, sports halls, spa and fitness salon, volleyball, basketball and golf.
