Tuesday May 16 from 07:00 p.m. to 16:00 p.m.

The liner AMBITION will make its inaugural call at the port of Cherbourg-en-Cotentin, tomorrow, Tuesday May 16 from 07:00 a.m. to 16:00 p.m. at the Quai de France. So many firsts for this ship since our Cotentin destination will also be its first visit to French territory during its inaugural cruise with more than 1 mostly British passengers on board. Like an air of “déjà vu”, theAMBITION displays the colors of the Ambassador Cruise Line company, just like the liner AMBIENCE, received an unscheduled stopover on April 11.

The Ambition was inaugurated on June 25, 1999 in Saint-Nazaire under the French flag (Wallis & Futuna) for Festival Croisières as MISTRAL. Two other Jumbo ships will be delivered subsequently, the EUROPEAN VISION (2001) and the EUROPEAN STARS (2002), which now operate as MSC ARMONIA and MSC SINFONIA. When Festival went bankrupt in 2004, the liner was taken over by the Saint-Nazaire shipyards, which sold it to Iberocruceros. Renamed GRAND MISTRAL, it then served the Spanish-speaking market. Its rear part will be completely modified to accommodate new balcony cabins. Here again, it will leave Iberocruceros just before the latter's closure, transferred to Costa, for which it becomes the COSTA neoRIVERA at the end of 2013. In December 2019, transformed again (the discotheque will also become cabins), it becomes the AIDAmira for the German shipowner, but will only carry out three cruises for it before the start of the pandemic. Eventually, she would be removed from the fleet and sold to Ambassador Cruise Line who renamed her AMBITION. It was first chartered for six months in Glasgow by the Scottish Government to serve the Ukrainian refugee floating hotel before resuming its cruises in May 2022. © APMM
