Wednesday June 1st from 11:00 a.m. to 19:00 p.m.

As an inaugural stopover, the SEA CLOUD SPIRIT will come to the port of Cherbourg-en-Cotentin, on Wednesday June 1, from 11 a.m. to 19 p.m.

The Sea Cloud Cruises company focuses on the originality of its cruise ships: sailboats!

The magnificent three-masted SEA CLOUD SPIRIT is no exception to this rule, combining the traditional sailing vessel with modern German luxury. The latter joined the fleet in September 2021 alongside the Sea Cloud I and the Sea Cloud II. On board, 55 passengers, mainly German and American.

The SEA CLOUD SPIRIT almost did not see the light of day. Ordered on March 22, 2007 by Sea Cloud Cruises from the Spanish shipyard Factoria de Naval Marin in Vigo, construction began in July 2008, but the shipyard went bankrupt in 2010 and the ship remained unfinished.

Following the repurchase of the hull from creditors, the shipyard was able to continue in the fall of 2018. At the time, the ship changed its name from SEA CLOUD HUSSAR to SEA CLOUD SPIRIT.

But the latter once again fell behind schedule due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The liner was finally delivered on April 29, 2021, more than ten years after the date initially planned.

The ship was christened on September 3, 2021, in the port of Palma de Mallorca as a preamble to its maiden voyage which took place on September 14, 2021 from Civitavecchia, Italy. © APPM Association
