Discover objects brought up from the TITANIC WRECK IN THE CITY OF THE SEA!

These unique pieces return to Cherbourg at La Cité de la Mer, where the legendary liner stopped on April 10, 1912. This exhibition highlights
light the society of the Belle Époque, the titanic destiny of passengers and members of
the crew.

April 10, 1912, 18:35 p.m. The Titanic comes to rest in the large artificial harbor of Cherbourg. Coming from Southampton and bound for Queenstown in Ireland, the liner took on 281 passengers during its only continental stopover.

Since the night of the sinking, between April 14 and 15, 1912, the wreck has lain at a depth of nearly 4000 meters in the North Atlantic Ocean. Despite the advanced deterioration of the Titanic wreck, 43 new objects have been brought to the surface, and you can discover them in this new exhibition within the permanent exhibition dedicated to the Titanic: clarinet, sheet music, wallet, jewelry, fountain pen, stopwatch, chandelier…. These pieces give you the feeling of boarding the Titanic

In partnership with the American company RMS Titanic INC, La Cité de la Mer is offering a new selection of objects from collections kept in Atlanta in the United States, which it will welcome to
from April 2023 for 2 years.

Within the permanent “Titanic, Return to Cherbourg” trail, you can find these 43 objects brought up from the debris field surrounding the wreck of the legendary liner.

These personal souvenirs or pieces of the liner are exhibited together for the first time in Europe.
