On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the landing and the Battle of Normandy, La Cité de la Mer is offering a free exhibition from June 8 to September 1, 2024, in the heart of the Gare Maritime Transatlantique.
Based on the real testimony of Jean PIVAIN, it will offer a look at the Transatlantic Maritime Station, the Occupation and the Liberation through the eyes of Jean, a 9 year old child in 1933 who grew up in Cherbourg.
The exhibition will be enhanced with historical prints as well as new illustrations created by Jean BRISSET, a designer specializing in children's illustrations. This exhibition will be held at La Cité all summer. From September, this exhibition will be offered free of charge in schools.
PRACTICAL INFORMATION
- Free access during opening hours of La Cité de la Mer
- This exhibition will then be made available to local schools and colleges as historical, educational and traveling support.
