The start of the 5th edition of the DRHEAM-CUP / FRENCH OFFSHORE RACING GRAND PRIX  will take place from July 11 to 15 in Cherbourg-en-Cotentin.

Do you know the Drhream Cup? The Dhream Cup is a sailing competition, organized by Jacques Civilise every July since 2016. The race is open to many types of monohull and multihull boats such as Class40, Multi50, and IMOCA. The competition offers coastal and open sea courses, attracting professional and amateur sailors. In addition to the races, the event offers a festive atmosphere with entertainment for spectators.

This exhilarating adventure should attract nearly a hundred boats, a figure
which has continued to grow: in 2016 there were 40 on the starting line, 76 in 2018 and 95 in 2020. The skippers will choose to sail on one of the 3 courses depending on the category of their boat.

Le departure will be given on Sunday July 15 in the harbor of Cherbourg-en-Cotentin, the first boats will arrive in the port of Trinité-sur-Mer, in the Gulf of Morbihan, from July 17. Competitors will compete in multihulls as well as monohulls, single-handed, double-handed or crewed.

Le public insurance will observe boats between 6.5 m and 32 m on the departure village, at the Chantereyne port, where renowned and amateur skippers will meet during the 5 days of celebration preceding the departure.

The course

The racing area extends from the East Channel and the Cotentin, the Irish Sea and the Atlantic coast of Pertuis Charentais, extended to the Bay of Biscay area.

3 routes differentiated according to boat speeds:

  • DC600: 600 nautical miles starting from Cherbourg-en-Cotentin, passing by Shamble West, Wolf Rock (Scilly), the DRHEAM/Ouessant waypoint, the west cardinal Rochebonne, to finish at La Trinité-sur-Mer.
  • DC1000: 1000 nautical miles starting from Cherbourg-en-Cotentin, passing Shamble West, the Scilly, the Fastnet, the DRHEAM/Ouessant waypoint, the BXA buoy, to arrive at La Trinité-sur-Mer.
  • DC1500: 1500 nautical miles starting from Cherbourg-en-Cotentin, passing Shamble West, the southwest tip of England, the DRHEAM-IM waypoint (north of the Isle of Man), the Fastnet, the DRHEAM/Ouessant waypoint , a buoy off the coast of Bilbao, ending at La Trinité-sur-Mer.

The programme

  • Thursday July 11: Opening of the village in Cherbourg-en-Cotentin and arrivals of boats,
  • Saturday, July 13 : DRHEAM-TROPHY (prologue: coastal course of approximately 15 to 25 miles organized between La Hague and Barfleur),
  • Sunday, July 14 : DRHEAM-TROPHY Award ceremony (prologue) and fireworks in Cherbourg-en-Cotentin,
  • Monday July 15 : Start of the DRHEAM-CUP / FRANCE OFFSHORE RACING GRAND PRIX,
  • Du Wednesday July 17 to Saturday July 20 : Estimated arrival of the first boats at La Trinité-sur-mer,
  • Sunday, July 21 : Prize giving ceremony in La Trinité-sur-mer.

5 days of celebration

Events du Thursday July 11 to Monday July 15 on the departure village of the DRHEAM-CUP, on the green beach, port Chantereyne. This year, the DRHEAM-CUP departure village will be reorganized to offer an even more user-friendly experience. Located in front of the fleet, it will be more compact and will extend along the Quai de la Hune. Commercial stands and events will be harmoniously integrated to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. A day program with one-off and permanent events, aperitifs, concerts and evening shows, this is what awaits visitors during these 5 days of celebrations. Something to delight older children and put stars in the eyes of younger children.
All proposed activities are Free. The race village will be oopen during the day and nocturne will be organized on Thursday July 14t to celebrate National Day.
