The island of Alderney, located furthest north in the archipelago, is also the most isolated. It is a paradise for hikers and all those who love nature in its raw state. The mildness of its climate and the tranquility of its landscapes are all opportunities to recharge your batteries and enjoy its protected spaces.

Far from mass tourism, the island of AURIGNY, 8 km², is renowned for its hiking trails. Although it is the island closest to the French coast, Alderney seems more isolated than all the other Channel Islands. It will delight nature lovers thanks to its very rich flora and fauna. Despite the tranquility of the place, Saint Anne, the capital of the island, is home to pretty colorful houses, good restaurants as well as lively pubs.

The traditional charm of its capital, Sainte-Anne, will seduce you with the old mansions, cottages and typical streets lined with softly colored houses.

GOOD TO KNOW

Alderney is the only island to have a railway. Although this, built in the 1840s to facilitate the construction of the dike and forts, is no longer considered a real transport route, it today attracts the curiosity of visitors. A small train, pulled by a diesel locomotive and made of recycled London Underground carriages, connects the port to the Mannez granite quarry, a protected site on the island, to the delight of holidaymakers.
