Description
First stage of the “Tatihou / Mont Saint-Michel” mountain bike route, the Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue / Saint-Sauveur-le-Vicomte portion will allow you to have a breathtaking view of the Normandy coast. Before setting off, a visit to Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue is essential, perhaps with a detour to the island of Tatihou. It is possible to access it at low tide.
The first part of the route will take you to the Haut de la Pernelle with a breathtaking view of the entire Bay of Veys as well as the Normandy coast. Then direction Montaigu-la-Bissette with a passage near the church where you can enter and admire the Saint-Martin fountain. Then get back on your mountain bike and stop in Valognes, a city of art and history. You will then pass near the ruins of Alleaume which are ancient Roman baths. On your journey; you will come across several lime kilns as well as manors and mansions. Finally, you will arrive in Saint-Sauveur-le-Vicomte with a bird's eye view of the town and its old castle which you can also visit.
