Description
This stage extends over 18 km. At the start of this route, you follow the immense beach of Anse de Sciotot via the dunes. The swell and strong waves here make this place a paradise for lovers of water activities. If you want to try surfing, you will find the Sciotot Surf School on the way (open from March 31 to November 30).
The GR® 223 then branches off inland to Rozel Castle before taking you back towards the sea. After passing along the Le Ranch campsite, a short climb awaits you to reach Cap du Rozel. On this portion, the dirt road is steeper. From here, admire the panorama and the different shades of blue!
You will then have a view of Surtainville beach. Before reaching it, you will pass by the archaeological site of Rozel where excavations have been carried out several times in recent years. This site of national interest traces the history of Neanderthals, who lived here 80 years ago.
After this little historical break, you arrive in Surtainville. The path takes you to the village of this small seaside town. Pond and ruins of the Saint-Ergouêfle chapel stand on your path.
From Surtainville to Baubigny, the coastal path plunges into the dunes for 3 km. Then from Baubigny to Hatainville, the route moves away from the sea but don't miss the view over Cap de Flamanville.
