Description

The town of Brix, located between Cherbourg and Valognes, is the heir to a great page of history. It is in fact in this town, on the site of the current “Bruce Castle” property, that the past of the Scottish royal family is rooted.
Brix once had two baron castles on its territory: the Château d'Adam and that of Luthumière, of which only vestiges remain.
In the 16th century, Château Le Val was built.
Two other castles appeared in the 18th century.
That of Pannelier, built before the Revolution and rehabilitated after a fire in the 2003th century, has been inhabited by the current owners since XNUMX.
That of Mont Epinguet, in neo-classical style, was the property of the Ratti family from 1917 to 1955, in particular of Lucien Ratti who made it a stud farm.
In the 1920s, the latter had the first department store in Cherbourg built based on the model of those that already existed in Paris.
Currently, the Bruce Castle, Le Val, de Pannelier and Mont Epinguet castles offer gîtes and guest rooms.
