the Rolex Fastnet Race chooses Cotentin as its new destination

Historically anchored in Plymouth in England since 1925, the Rolex Fastnet Race brings together the elite of professional skippers and the best amateurs.

Today, the race brings together more than 300 international crews every two years, and thus becomes the most popular offshore racing event in the world.

After the success of the 2021 edition, the arrival of which took place in the port of Cherbourg for the first time, the Royal Ocean Racing Club (RORC) and the partner communities - city of Cherbourg-en-Cotentin, Community of Agglomeration of Cotentin, Department of Manche and Normandy Region – have announced the return of the flagship event in July 2025 in Cherbourg-en-Cotentin.

The biennial 690 nautical mile race is a rite of passage for all participants and one of the few global events where amateurs can compete on the same course as their heroes.

The holy grail of this race is to win the overall ranking, the historic Fastnet Challenge Cup – presented for the first time in 1925 – but for most sailors, crossing the finish line is already a personal achievement.

This is a unique opportunity to compete against sailors from around the world in the most famous offshore race.
