The share of international tourists increases with 24% compared to 76% of French people.
The main nationalities remain the Germans, the British, the Dutch, the Belgians and we see progression among the Americans and Irish.
Concerning our French visitors, they mainly come from Ile de France, Normandy and Pays de la Loire, more and more visitors also come from regions further east of Paris.
On average, a tourist stays 2,9 days in our territory and 12% more than 5 days.
A great 2024 season to come
Cotentin in the spotlight as part of the 80th festivitiesnd anniversary of the Landing, more than 90 events already listed on the Tourist Office website (airdrops, military camps, conferences, plays, exhibitions, guided tours, etc.)
Reservations for July and August guaranteed from January and an occupancy rate in September already higher than in 2023.

Cotentin and tourism?
79% of residents were quite satisfied with the work accomplished by the Cotentin Urban Community and therefore by the Tourist Office regarding tourism development
And 77% are in favor of increased tourism

These results correlate with the IUT survey, 80% of which are positive or rather positive regarding tourism in Cotentin which contributes to greater attractiveness of the territory, the influence of Cotentin culture and the creation of wealth and jobs locally.

The tourist economy for the benefit of Cotentin
In addition to expenses incurred on site by visitors (sites, restaurants, various purchases, etc.), the contribution of tourists, via the tourist tax paid to hosts, is significant in the financial resources of the Agglomeration, since in 2023 it represents 1,7 million which make it possible to finance, for example, the offer of hiking and cycling: the development of hiking trails, of the future trail/gravel station, of which the inhabitants are the first users.
New – Slot’R – the 1rd fair vacation rental platform
The Cotentin Tourist Office accompanied by the TES center, have just won the call for Expression of Interest Tourism Innovation & Experimental Grounds, launched by Atout France in order to carry out an innovative experiment in the region with Slot'R.
In fact, an operation will be launched at the beginning of May, with Slot’R, French startup, 1rd fair vacation rental platform whose administration fees are the exclusive responsibility of the client and not the host, which allows better remuneration between all stakeholders:
- Restores purchasing power and flexibility to travelers (15% savings on the price of overnight stays)
- 0% service fees for all owners (between 4 and 40% on other platforms)
- Thanks to the use of technology, the Tourist Office and the Agglomeration will have access to an authenticated register in order to help them better collect the tourist tax
Ultimately, all the hosts present on Slot'R will also be present on the Tourist Office website and there no one pays a commission, neither the host nor the tourist!
Role of the Cotentin Tourist Office – economic development through tourism
The Tourist Office plays a major role in the economic development of the territory and strives to preserve the natural resources of the Presqu'île in line with our Cotentin Unique par Nature brand..
Through its tourist information offices, the Tourist Office supports some local creators and artisans. This is the case of Patouche Chapeau with its bucket hats decorated with watercolors representative of Cotentin, of Pochons by Mathilde Letablier, which recycles oyster pouches into tote bags and messenger bags (a new model is coming out in the spring), and will soon also release the Brume du Cotentin home fragrance by Eugénie Berry located in Valcanville, Parfum de Saire, the skyline that needs no introduction, made entirely in Valognes with the company JPV…
