The Fort de Vauville, listed as a Historic Monument, was built in the 18th century and designed by Louis XIV's architect, Sébastien de Vauban. This small stronghold was built with the aim of protecting the French coasts.
The only house on the beach, the Fort de Vauville is certainly rustic but a unique place in France.
