The Hippodrome du Vieux Château is located in the town of Graignes-Mesnil-Angot in Manche. It is a trotting racecourse with a 1 m sand track, with rope on the left.
It was founded in by Raymond Rigault (1910-2006), a former farmer. Passionate about horse racing, in 1945 he organized a race in the Graignes marshes, in favor of prisoners returning from captivity. The racecourse gradually acquired a national reputation, now hosting 30 meetings per year. Graignes also owes him a school for lads and jockeys, opened in the early 1970s.
