Presentation
A true living museum of the breeds of our region, La Ferme du Jardin is the new family destination in La Hague.
Adjacent to the Vauville Botanical Garden, La Ferme du Jardin exhibits around fifty Norman and Anglo-Norman domestic animals on more than 2 hectares along a fun and educational trail with information panels.
Come and discover a unique collection of emblematic species from La Hague, Cotentin and Normandy: Cotentin donkey, Norman donkey, Norman Cob horse, Bayeux pig, Fossés goat, Roussin sheep from La Hague, Cotentin hen, Norman goose, Rouen duck, Hotôt white rabbit, etc.
Also come and meet 8 breeds from the Anglo-Norman cow family: Norman, Froment du Léon, Jersey, Breton Pie Noire, Dexter from Ireland, Galloway and Highland from Scotland, Canadian.
On the explanatory panels that punctuate the educational trail, you will learn the characteristics and history of each breed thanks to the instructions of Mademoiselle Josette, our “goose teacher”.
For the little ones, a family area allows you to play and pet the miniature animals: dwarf goats, miniature chickens, Shetland sheep, dwarf rabbits, etc.
La Ferme du Jardin, a conservatory of Norman animals, welcomes families, groups, associations and schools to introduce the ancient domestic breeds of Normandy, a living heritage to be preserved for the influence of local biodiversity.
