In 2022, the State Secretariat for the Sea and Biodiversity launched the Maritime Intervention Fund (FIM) with the aim of supporting local initiatives and promoting the development of sustainable maritime activities.

The Maritime Intervention Fund, a lever to stimulate activities at sea, aims to strengthen the territorial action of the State by supporting the initiatives of local actors such as communities, associations, public establishments, chambers of commerce , companies or business groups. In doing so, it concretizes the actions identified in the maritime planning work at the scale of the coastlines or overseas basins.

After the success of the FIM calls for projects in 2022 and 2023, which made it possible to support around 150 winners, the fund is being renewed in 2024 with a budgetary allocation of around 15 million euros.

This fund aims to provide support for one-off (non-recurring) local and partnership projects falling within one of the 3 axes below:

  • Coastal development in favor of maritime activities;
  • Blue economy development and planning;
  • Training for maritime professions.
