Eglise Notre-Dame de la Paix

SAINTE-MERE-EGLISE
- church Square

Presentation

The oldest part dates from the 11th century with the square of the transept and its massive pillars which support the bell tower. For the furniture, we can cite an imposing high altar, the eagle lectern, also note the curious font.
Two modern stained glass windows, one representing Our Lady of Peace, surrounded by Paratroopers and the other representing Saint-Michel, offered by the Veterans of the 505th Regiment of the 82nd Airborne. This Church became famous throughout the world with the filming of the film The Longest Day. Classified as a Historic Monument since 1840.
