Presentation
Built between 1829 and 1834, the Gatteville lighthouse is the 2nd largest lighthouse in France at 75 m high. The construction of this “stone candle” required 11 blocks of granite representing 000 tonnes. After climbing a staircase of 7 steps lit by 400 windows, visitors can admire the magnificent panorama of the Val de Saire and the Channel Sea.
In the event of strong wind or storm, as a safety measure, the lighthouse may be closed to visitors. Annual leave from November 18 to December 20, 2024.
