“The Golden Theater”: this is what the Cherbourg residents nicknamed it when they were finally able to contemplate the refinement, both exterior and interior, of their new theater in 1882.
Classified as a Historic Monument since 1984, this Italian-style theater offers a spectacular room ceiling painted by Georges Clairin, caryatids and other statuary elements which testify to the refinement of the building.
Renovated, it benefits from exceptional acoustics, regains its understage and is accessible to disabled people. Ideal for enjoying a year-round program of live shows offered by the Trident, the Scène nationale de Cherbourg-en-Cotentin (concert, dance, theater, etc.).
