The identity card is also sufficient for day travel to Guernsey

Very good news has just fallen: the Government of Jersey has decided to lift the passport requirement to enter the island for the period from April 22 to September 30, 2023.
This lifting of the passport requirement is accompanied by conditions: only passengers of French nationality as part of a day trip will be allowed to enter the island with a simple valid identity card.

The measure is in a testing state but the announcement was made this Tuesday March 7: there will be no need for a passport to travel to Jersey this season for travelers who make the return trip during the day towards the Channel Island.

Jersey Minister of the Interior, Helen Miles confirms that for these passengers, a valid identity card will be sufficient for French citizens.

However, visitors of French nationality staying in Jersey must always hold a valid passport.

For the moment, a passport is still required to travel to Guernsey, Sark et Alderney from France, both for a day trip and a stay.
