Normandy Tourism asked him to choose a corner of Normandy for his column “My tour of France by the small roads” and Chantille chose the Cotentin!
In this article Chantille shares with you these 5 prettiest villages, in slow tourism mode:
- Jobourg and its nose
- Auderville, the lighthouse and Ecalgrain bay
- Omonville la Petite and the Prévert house
- Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue, the Vauban towers and the island of Tatihou
- Barfleur and the Gatteville lighthouse
As well as some good addresses tested and approved.
What first attracted me were the wild landscapes of this piece of land eroded by the tides. It is often said that Cotentin resembles Ireland. It is not false. Then, there are its very pretty villages, like Barfleur classified among The Most Beautiful Villages of France®, or Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue, which was elected “French Favorite Villages 2019” in Stéphane Bern's show. And finally, it is its astonishing heritage, made up of numerous lighthouses lost in the sea and the Vauban fortifications of the Island of Tatihou.
