Meeting with Stéphanie Marie, host of the France 5 show dedicated to gardens  Silence it grows ! in its haven of peace, the natural setting of the show

Stéphane Marie, what do you think is the most representative tree of the Cotentin? and which is your favorite tree?

“The beech and its tangle of branches. Very present around here, we find it on the embankments. He is fragile, he needs others. It’s a colonizing tree”

My favorite is plum. On the cliffs, carved by the winds, it forms beautiful anamorphoses. This tree blooms all white at the end of winter, a poetic moment.

Your choice of flowers?

The apple blossom embodies the Cotentin. It is one of the symbols of my childhood associated with the peaceful cows and sheep just below. I like how polyculture and intelligent forestry work. As for the species that wins my preference, I would say the Camellia Narumigata. The humidity and temperatures of the territory are perfect for him.

You are very attached to the nature of this territory, why?

I love its ditches, its centuries-old paths. These landscapes are preserved in the Cotentin even if we must be aware of their fragility. They regulate water flow and preserve biomass. I received this learning from my mother, curious about all the nature that surrounded her.
