A year after its unplanned stopover, the impressive cruise ship IONA, from the P&O Cruises company, returns to our Cotentin port of Cherbourg, for a stopover this time scheduled for this Friday, 1er November, from 9:00 a.m. to 19:00 p.m. Its 6300 passengers, mostly British, will have the opportunity to enjoy the city center of Cherbourg-en-Cotentin, the Les Éléis shopping center, as well as a choir of the Marins du Cotentin, who will liven up the Cruise Terminal hall with song at 15:00 p.m.!
Boat features
This gigantic cruise ship was delivered to its owner during the Covid-19 pandemic. After being laid up pending the resumption of cruises, first in Bremerhaven in Germany, then in Skagen in Denmark and Haugesund in Norway, it finally entered service on August 7, 2021, departing from Southampton, its home port. It is part of a series produced for the Carnival group and named Helios or Excellence depending on the branches in which the ships were dispatched. The services offered :
- Information Desk at the Cruise Terminal from 09:00 a.m. to 18:00 p.m.;
- Presence of a representative of La Cité de la Mer in the morning;
- Cruise Greeters present to guide and accompany passengers;
- Shuttle service will be set up by BLB Cruises & Shorex and will provide a connection between the Cruise Terminal and the city center from 09:30 a.m. to 18:30 p.m., with a stop at Bd. Robert Schuman.
