3 years after giving carte blanche to François Dourlen with the creation of “Unique by Nature”, a film in the form of a declaration of love for Cotentin, the tourist office reiterates its collaboration with the director Cherbourgeois to offer the public his new opus “A Present by Nature” as a Christmas present.
In 2019, the video posted on the social networks of #CotentinUnique was such a success (more than 500 views and 000 shares) that François Dourlen chose to devote himself fully to directing and cinema.
It is in fact thanks to this film that the producer Maxime Delauney, native Carentan (who has, among other things, collaborated with Orelsan, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Dominique Besnehard…) noticed François’ work. He then offers to associate him with different projects of Nolita, his production company.

Among these collaborations, François Dourlen actively participated in the film Julien Guetta “The Cadors”, filmed in Cotentin in 2021 and which will be released in theaters on January 11 with, Marie gillain, Jean-Paul Rouve, Gregoire Ludig et Michel Blanc.
For this new production aimed at all Cotentin lovers, François has surrounded himself with other talents:
- Alexis Rault, film score composer rewarded with numerous awards. Thanks to his family ties, he regularly immerses himself in Cotentin and gives us for this video original music particularly inspired by his impressions. It will be part of his album to be released in the spring by Sony Music.
- Claire Larquemain, the author from Cotentin, has crafted here a text full of poetry.
- Carmen Kassovitz, starring in the film « Storm » de Christian Duguay with Mélanie Laurent et Pio marmai, an equestrian epic set in the landscapes of Normandy and Cotentin, is the voice of this.
These artists willingly participated in this beautiful project alongside François Dourlen because the Cotentin is inspiring and undoubtedly also for the message it delivers implicitly: to be able to grow and live in this preserved, unique and generous territory. It is the greatest gift we can give to our children, “a gift by nature”.
It's a personal film to thank Cotentin, the main character of the one who changed my life three years ago.
It is also to tell something unique: Cotentin is a gift that you inherit from your parents and a gift that you pass on to your children.
During my expatriation in the Paris region, this feeling grew obvious. I only had one idea in mind: to go home!
François Dourlen
Director
I am delighted that François suggested that I write a text on his images. As a freelance author and editor, I had never had to put poetic words on a video. It was a challenge for me. As a native of Cotentin, I am all the more proud to have been able to take it on.

Happy and proud that François Dourlen chose my music to illustrate Cotentin.
He has the talent to enhance what he looks at and this magnificent region deserves it!
