West Coast Eden

The village of Vauville located along the west coast of Cotentin, is one of the classified sites of La Hague. In the heart of the village, you will discover a magical place that makes it unique: the Vauville Botanical Garden, a castle surrounded by 5 hectares of plants from the southern hemisphere. Incredible challenge of growing all these species facing the sea and the sea spray but also facing the prevailing winds of the Cotentin!

It is possible to access the Anse de Vauville beach in two places: at La Crecque, named after the rock that is exposed when the sea recedes, and at the Devise beach car park.

A formerly religious building dominates the village. It is the priory of Vauville built in the moors, on the top of a hill.

Another remarkable site of theVauville Cove, Mare de Vauville nature reserve. Created in 1976, it is one of the 135 nature reserves in France. Managed by the Norman Ornithological Group since 1983, it is a freshwater marsh protected from the sea by a narrow dune barrier. The Vauville pond covers 62 hectares, there are more than 150 species of birds as well as 350 plants and 16 species of amphibians. An ornithological observatory is open to the public all year round.

The Pierres Pouquelées, a Neolithic gallery, are a testimony to Antiquity. The site offers a breathtaking view of Anse de Vauville.
